Soil Reviva – Combating Leaching and Volatilisation
Leaching and volatilisation losses of NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium), in conventional fertilisers are significant. Prior to germination and during the growth cycle, 50% – 80% losses are not uncommon depending on the conditions. Notwithstanding the economic costs, the environmental costs to air, water table and soil quality are also high. The fertiliser industry acknowledges the issue of leaching and volatilization and has developed coating technology to produce a range of slow release fertilisers. The coating is generally a composted material or a polymer and delays the release of the fertiliser until the coating breaks down, usually by action of water in the soil.
GrowGreen® Technologies offers the next level of innovation: ‘Release on Demand’ fertilisers.
Why Soil Reviva Works So Well – ‘Release On Demand’ NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium) Delivery System
Most chemical fertilisers, even slow release fertilisers, simply saturate the root area of the plant with readily absorbable nutrients. The plant has very little choice and cannot help but take up these nutrients whether it needs them or not, irrespective of the stage of its growth cycle.
This is like a weight lifter on steroids – the body gets big but it can come with some serious and unwanted side effects – usually in the form of soft tissue that is prone to fungal and insect attack. The nutrients in Soil Reviva are locked in the mineral structure until the plant requires them. This gradual release of fertiliser aligns more to plant requirements than conventional fertiliser applications.
The key to Soil Reviva is the balanced combination of NPK, secondary nutrients, trace elements and GrowGreen®’s proprietary mix of pro-biotic microbes. GrowGreen® uses a patented process to encapsulate the nutrient/microbial mix in a mineral structure that prevents normal leaching and volatilisation but allows the mycorrhizal microbes to carry out their natural function of working symbiotically with the plant roots to metabolize and deliver nutrients via the normal, natural plant processes.
NPK not required by the plant at that time remains locked within the Soil Reviva structure. Here the weight lifter eats the right foods – in the right quantities – at the right time, depending on the training or competition cycle. This is typically a slower process than the steroids but is likely to deliver a more sustainable outcome with no side effects.
