Some crops and growing conditions require more than a general biological nutrition program. During periods of rapid growth, flowering, fruit development or when particular nutrient demands are known, supplying targeted mineral nutrition alongside biologically derived compounds can provide a practical approach to crop nutrition.

The GrowGreen Fish Emulsion + Nutrients range has been developed for these situations, combining the proven biological foundation of GrowGreen Fish Emulsion with one or two carefully selected mineral nutrients in a single formulation.

This allows growers to incorporate targeted nutrition without changing their biological fertiliser program.

Designed around plant physiology

Crop nutritional requirements are not constant throughout the growing season. As plants progress from vegetative growth through flowering, fruit development and maturation, both their nutritional demand and metabolic activity continually change.

Amino acids play an essential role in plant metabolism, providing the building blocks required for protein synthesis, enzyme production and numerous physiological processes associated with growth and development. They also contribute to nutrient utilisation within the plant and support the efficient translocation of nutrients to actively growing tissues where demand is greatest.

By combining biologically derived amino acids with selected mineral nutrients, GrowGreen Fish Emulsion + Nutrients provides targeted formulations designed to complement the changing physiological and nutritional requirements of different crops and production systems.

Why include additional nutrients?

Although GrowGreen Fish Emulsion provides a biologically active source of amino acids, organic compounds and naturally derived nutrients, plant nutritional requirements vary considerably throughout the growing season. Different physiological processes require different mineral nutrients, and deficiencies or increased demand during critical growth stages can limit crop performance.

For this reason, GrowGreen Fish Emulsion + Nutrients formulations can be produced with one or two additional nutrients selected to complement specific physiological functions and crop nutritional requirements.

Nitrogen (N)

Nitrogen is the primary structural component of amino acids, proteins, nucleic acids and chlorophyll, making it one of the most important nutrients for plant growth. Adequate nitrogen availability supports vigorous vegetative development, canopy expansion and photosynthetic capacity, allowing crops to produce the carbohydrates required for flowering, fruit development and grain filling. Nitrogen is particularly important during periods of rapid growth, when protein synthesis and metabolic activity are at their highest.

Phosphorus (P)

Phosphorus plays a central role in cellular energy transfer through adenosine triphosphate (ATP), making it essential for virtually every metabolic process within the plant. It supports early root development, cell division and reproductive development while contributing to flowering, seed formation and fruit establishment. Adequate phosphorus nutrition promotes efficient energy utilisation during periods of active growth and high physiological demand.

Potassium (K)

Unlike many other nutrients, potassium is not incorporated into structural plant compounds but functions primarily as a regulator of physiological processes. It activates numerous enzymes, regulates osmotic balance and controls stomatal function, influencing water use efficiency and plant water relations. Potassium also facilitates the transport of carbohydrates from photosynthetically active leaves to developing fruits, seeds and storage organs, making it particularly important during reproductive development and crop maturation.

Calcium (Ca)

Calcium is an essential structural component of plant cell walls and cell membranes, contributing to tissue strength, membrane stability and normal cell development. Because calcium has limited mobility within the plant, a continuous supply is required to support actively growing tissues such as root tips, young leaves, flowers and developing fruit. Adequate calcium nutrition contributes to healthy tissue development, improved fruit quality and the maintenance of normal physiological function throughout the growing season.

Magnesium (Mg)

Magnesium occupies the central position within the chlorophyll molecule and is therefore fundamental to photosynthesis and energy production. It also activates numerous enzymes involved in carbohydrate metabolism, protein synthesis and energy transfer. Maintaining adequate magnesium nutrition supports efficient photosynthetic activity, allowing crops to generate the assimilates required to sustain vegetative growth, reproductive development and yield formation. In pasture production, magnesium also contributes to the mineral composition of forage, making its management an important consideration for livestock grazing systems.

Boron (B)

Boron plays a specialised role in plant reproduction and cell wall development. It contributes to the structural integrity of newly developing cells while supporting pollen viability, pollen tube growth and successful fertilisation. Boron is therefore particularly important during flowering, fruit set and seed development, where adequate nutrition helps support normal reproductive processes and the establishment of healthy fruit and seed tissues.

Zinc (Zn)

Zinc is an essential micronutrient involved in numerous enzymatic processes associated with protein synthesis, carbohydrate metabolism and energy utilisation. It also plays an important role in the production of auxins, naturally occurring plant hormones that regulate shoot elongation, leaf expansion and root development. Adequate zinc nutrition supports vigorous early growth, healthy canopy development and the normal physiological processes associated with flowering, fruit set and reproductive development.

Manganese (Mn)

Manganese is involved in several essential biochemical pathways, including the water-splitting reaction of photosystem II during photosynthesis. It also activates enzymes associated with respiration, nitrogen metabolism and antioxidant defence systems. Adequate manganese nutrition contributes to efficient photosynthesis, healthy metabolic activity and the maintenance of plant growth under varying environmental conditions.
